Five Motivators To Change From Word To PDF

By John Kennedy

PDF documents have always been popular since its inception in the early 1990s. However, it's position in the digital world was secured when it became an ISO standard. The PDF file format ISO designation is ISO 32000.

People often like to use PDF documents for their PDF form capabilities. PDF forms are a nifty little feature that allow someone to type their information inside the PDF document. For example, when you go to the DPS office they might hand you a form you fill With your requested information. It's the same concept except you're doing it inside a PDF document on a computer.

PDF documents can even be used to reduce the file size of an original document. If the original document contained a large number of images you can convert this file to PDF and reduce the overall file size of the document. This is very useful when you need to e-mail large documents.

For all these reasons it's a good idea to convert your Word documents to PDF before e-mailing them. At this point I'm sure you're starting to see the benefits of PDF documents.

A few good reasons to convert your Word documents to PDF:

1. Anyone on any computer running any operating system can view PDF files

2. Many security features to protect your documents

3. Ability to combine multiple file types into one document

4. Is perfect for distributing due to its compact file size (Email, Download, CDs)

5. With some software, converting to PDF is as simple as printing your documents to the PDF file format.

When searching for PDF software many people are intimidated with the many available options. Some PDF software can cost over $400. On the flip side there is some that cost as little as $30, does just as good of a job and sometimes even better.

As with most anything in the world there are free software solutions available to you. And just as with most anything else in the world there really is no such thing as free and you get what you pay for.

Many of these free solutions have absolutely no customer service and on top of that are generally the ones most difficult to use. Plus, they lack most features we need.

There is also the issue of customer service if you're lucky enough to reach them. Being that they are free generally they don't feel necessary to provide customer service. This is a very good reason to pay for your PDF software so you have someone to turn to if there's a problem.

Honestly I can go on and on and on, but, I won't. Just do the smart thing save your time, save your sanity and move on to more important things by buying a reliable, affordable PDF software solution.
